ICAでは、30年ぶりに「協同組合のアイデンティティ声明」（95年声明）の見直しに向けた議論が進められている。
現在、第２次改訂案に対する意見をもとに次の改訂案に向けた作業が進行中であるが、改訂案を見ても改訂を迫るほどの環境変化があったとは思えない。
改訂にあたっては、その前提として、現在の声明が世界中の協同組合においてどのような形で受け止められ実践されてきたのか、その後の環境変化のなかで耐え得ないものとなったのか、といった点についての検証が不可欠である。
当然ながら改訂しないといった選択肢もあるが、改訂の是非そのものより重要なのは、協同組合が存在する理由は組合員にあり、組合員自身がどういう価値観を共有し、どのように実践してきたのかといったことについての議論と検証である。

The ICA is discussing the review of the ””Cooperative Identity Statement”” (95 Statement) for the first time in 30 years, and the consultation process is currently underway for the next revision based on the opinions on the discussion draft 2 of the revised 95 Statement.
From the contents of the discussion draft 2, it does not seem that there has been a change in the environment to the extent that 95 Statement is forced to be revised. As a premise for the revision discussion, it is essential to verify and discuss how the current statement has been received and practiced by cooperatives around the world, and whether it has become unbearable in the subsequent environmental changes.
Of course, there is an option not to revise it, but what is more important than the pros and cons of the revision itself is the discussion and verification of what values the cooperative members themselves share and how they have practiced them. This is because it is the members who are at the center of the cooperative.
