世界の水産物供給では給餌養殖の拡大にともない、養殖飼料の安定供給が重要な課題となっている。魚粉・魚油の原料として利用される加工残さ等の水産副産物は、魚粉原料の重要な供給源であり、養殖飼料サプライチェーンのレジリエンス向上に不可欠である。本稿は、この水産副産物に着目し、国内外における供給構造や利用拡大の可能性について整理した。世界全体では魚粉の３～４割が副産物由来であるが、その割合は国・地域によってばらつきがあり、今後の拡大余地は大きいと思われる。国内で魚あらを回収・再資源化する三さんき幾飼料工業の事例は、各国・地域の事情に応じた副産物利用の推進に向けて重要な示唆を提供するものである。水産副産物の利用をすすめるため、食用利用との競合回避、海から陸への環境負荷の転嫁抑制、地域資源の活用、原料の栄養特性最適化などの視点から、飼料の循環性を評価することが重要と考える。

As the expansion of fed aquaculture continues to support global seafood production, securing a stable supply of aquafeed has become a critical challenge. Fisheries by-products, including processing residues used to produce fishmeal and fish oil, are an important source of feed ingredients and contribute significantly to the resilience of aquafeed supply chains. This paper reviews the supply of fisheries by-products and their potential for expanded utilization in domestic and international contexts. Globally, about 30-40% of fishmeal is derived from by-products, although the proportion varies considerably among countries and regions, indicating substantial room for growth. The case of Sanki Feed Industry Co., Ltd., which collects and recycles fish processing by-products in Japan, offers valuable insights into promoting by-product utilization under different regional conditions. Feed circularity should be evaluated from multiple perspectives, including avoiding conflicts with human consumption, minimizing the shift of environmental impacts from marine to terrestrial systems, utilizing local resources, and optimizing the nutritional characteristics of feed ingredients.
